I have a MacBook OS X 10.4 and a Photosmart D5460. I installed everything correctly (to my knowledge....), have the right USB cord, and have installed the ink cartridges correctly. I know this because the test page that printed when I first installed the printer came out right, all the colors, etc. were fine. So it IS capable of printing. However....

Whenever I print anything out the first page comes out with a bunch of numbers and letters at the top, such as this:

%!PS-Adobe-3.1 %RBINNumCopies: 1 %%Pages: (atend) %ADO_DSC_Encoding: MacOS Roman %%Ti

and so on. You get the idea. After this first page it will print out all blank pages until it runs out of paper. Everything I print out, whether that be a PDF, from the Internet, or a Word document turns out like this.

I've tried reconnecting it, deleting the printer from the que, adding it back. Everything I can think of. I can't figure out how to uninstall it and every time I insert the installation CD it just pops back out again. This didn't happen the first time I put it in.

I'm getting extremelyyyy frustrated and have NO idea what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Kudos!

Have you deleted and re-added the printer in the print queue? Let's try that (this is for Leopard & Snow Leopard):

- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Select the printer in question and click the minus sign at the bottom of the list
- Select the plus sign and re-add it.

If this does not work, do the same thing, only instead of the second step, right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System.

(Although I am employed by HP, I am speaking for myself and not for HP)
