Dont worry about any drivers - i have the dv9700 and everything works a treat with windows7. I have booting issues with my laptop and at present i need the quick launch strip working to boot the **bleep** thing, i read somewhere that there was issues with this and that HP were not releasing drivers for this hardware...so at the worst i would have had to re-install vista so i gave it a go. Fresh install of windows 7 and everything works a treat, quick launch, video and monitor out, everything thing. So dont worry about HP not supporting its investors looks like microsoft have got it all sorted. hope this helps...

so, what about the quick lunch buttons , don't need any drivers? and the Quickplay software, where can I found it? you did a clean install of win 7, and keep the HP recovery partition for any problem, didn't you?

Hi yes i did a clean install of windows and it allowed to me keep my current partitions intact. I really did need to make sure the quick lanuch buttons worked and if they did not i needed my partition to do the re-install, i did burn the back up dvds but for ease i kept the partition as was. The mute and volume buttons worked from the off, however as i press the first 2 buttons on the quick launch it will boot up the pc it does not load the HP quick play software - not sure if this is what they mean by not supporting...not sure but i would have thought that this was becasue i have not re-installed the software for it..windows 7 works better than vista on this laptop the boot issues is with HP's neglectfull sales staff...

I have recently done a clean install of windows 7 premium x64 on my DV9724TX in about 3 hours I was back up and running with all my previous applications. I have also installed a 128 Gb SSD so my machine boots in less than 42 seconds and everything is quicker than when the machine was out of the box. There has been no HP support which is a pity, I long ago removed the recovery partition better using Acronis for a weekly mirror of the drive, I never felt QuickPlay was that good so don't miss it and PowerDVD plays all my Bluray and normal DVDs'. I did reinstall quick touch buttons and the HP wireless manager everything else was done by the Windows 7 install. I'd certainly recommend the upgrade I have been using MS OS since windows 3.1 and this is by far the best Bill has ever done David

well i am using windows 7 ultimate, for the fax services that they have thankfully seen fit to put back in the software after removing it from vista, but hey thats another topic on another site lol. incidentally the webcam and all slots and sockets work from the off with w7 the only driver i did re-install after reading comments on here and a last ditch attempt to solve my laptop issues was to download the latest driver from Nvidia...but the drivers from W7 work just the same. cheers
