I've installed Windows 7 Ultimate x86 on my machine. Been able to get pretty much everything working, but the Broadcom WLAN isn't consistent. Sometimes when I reboot it disappears! Can't see it in Device Manager at all, like it's not even connected! At first I thought it was a conflict as it seemed to happen when I installed other drivers. So I wiped the HD, did a CLEAN install of 7, got it working, installed the Windows Update for Broadcom, rebooted, AND IT DISAPPEARED. So no other drivers have been installed other than stock Windows and IT STILL DISAPPEARED. I rebooted into safe mode with networking to see if maybe it would appear, got nothing. So I rebooted and when I logged in, IT CAME BACK! So I rebooted again without changing ANYTHING, and guess what? NO WIRELESS CARD. Not in the device manager, not listed under Network, not listed under unknown, NOT LISTED. Win 7 just seems to see it whenever it feels like it! Does anyone have a clue? UPDATE: Seeing as how the tx2000 series seems to have a problem overheating and I've seen people report that their wireless cards have disappeared due to solder damage, I decided to test the wireless card to be 100% SURE that the card is not damaged. I wiped the hard drive, installed Windows XP, found a Broadcom 4321 WLAN driver known to work and gave it a whirl. I had to restart about 2-3 times before it started working, but once it did, it REALLY worked! I rebooted the machine 20 times. Each time I rebooted I installed a driver for another component AND visited a few web pages to ensure that it was really working. 20 of 20 times it worked. It did not fail a single time. Therefore I have to diagnose it as being perfectly healthy, the card nor the motherboard are damaged. That means the problem is Windows 7, not the hardware. Sadly, this is even using the driver for the card that MICROSOFT has included in Windows Update for Windows 7. Just to reiterate, when the card doesn't work, it doesn't appear AT ALL. There are no settings for it, it does not appear in Network Connections, it does not appear in the Device Manager, Win 7 acts like it doesn't exist. When the card DOES work, it works GREAT!!! No problems. Then a reboot, and *POOF*, it's gone. I havent' read any posts with a similar problem, those that aren't working seem to be appearing, just not picking up signals or connecting, but the card does exist in the Device Manager and Network Connections. If anyone has an idea I'd love to hear it, I'll try whatever you throw at me! Message Edited by romanonly on 11-07-2009 01:37 AM
