I guess I need to be a little fair now since I blasted them (HP, Arvato, Microsoft, et.al) here.  I received an email from Arvato yesterday that they were unable to validate my proof of purchase.  I have to admit the scanned POP that I submitted wasn't exactly top quality and I didn't send a copy of the receipt because they didn't request it.  When I originally submitted, I used their online site and uploaded it.

This time I scanned the receipt AND proof of purchase using a high quality resolution.  Then I FAXED it to them (1-866-936-0736) with a specific cover showing my order number in bold 24 point type.

Here is the timeline for all of this..times are pst:

Nov. 3, 2009

9:20 am -  Fax sent

1:30 pm -  Arvato site indicates

Accepted = proof of purchased validated
In Process = preparing order for shipment. Typically 3-5 business days.

Nov 4, 2009

8:30 am - Arvato site indicates

Shipped = kit in transit to customer. Typically 3-5 business days in transit.

Now, does this mean I will receive it in 3-5 days.  Who knows?  But, I will trust the system unless they disappoint me again.  Wish me luck.

No, and I completed my order back in August. I was emailed that the upgrade would be shipped between Oct 30 and Nov 8. Nothing yet ....

Meanwhile, I had bought an upgrade from Amazon (for another HP computer) was shipped on OCt 22 and received by me on Oct 24.

Reminder to HP:  I paid good money for the computer I purchased and I am sure HP included the cost of OS upgrade.  This is not FREEBIE

and stop treating it like one.

DISAPPOINTED here, as well!

  • Oct. 23 - email said "Accepted, but please provide Proof of purchase".  (Okay, they couldn't read my scan either?)
  • Oct. 24 - Faxed copy of receipt to Arvato.
  • Oct. 29 - Got "Approved" email, (Online status STILL not updated).
  • Nov. 2 & Nov. 5 - Called, got same (barely legible) reply, saying you will be getting an email soon with tracking info, etc....
C'mon HP - Your reputation is on the line here!

I picked mine up at the Post Office yesterday after work - it was actually delivered a week ago according to the tracker, and there it was in the PO Box. Haven't had a chance to do anything with it yet.

So there is hope!

I am another recently-disatisfied HP customer. HP really screwed the pooch with this Avarto-handled upgrade program. In the last month, I ordered and received 2 HP high-end laptops - one 18" with Vista and one 17" with Win7 - plus a 1 TB external harddrive. I have a house full of HP products - laptops, printers, desktops and peripherals - so I think I'm a loyal HP customer. This upgrade process has really soured me regarding HP. I was actually looking at Dell and would have bought from them except they don't offer an 18" laptop.

To clarify (in case anyone at HP is reading these messages), my upgrade request was submitted on October 25 and since then the status has remained frozen at "POP Received = proof of purchase received but not yet validated; processed within 7 business days of receipt." There is no excuse for this kind of shoddy service!

I'm also annoyed that I have to use MS Internet Explorer to interact with the Arvato site. I mean, come on - it's 2009 already. Who is still using IE? and who would design a website that cannot be accessed by Firefox? I don't want to take all my business to Dell but HP is really pushing me away from buying anything else from them.

Sheesh!

Kudos!

Suggestion for you: forget about the update atleast for another month. I submitted mine on 9/21 and suppoed to get by Nov. 9 (according to their email). But so far nothing no tracking #. CSR is without any clue. Can't provide any info other than what's on their website.
