HP Premium Digital Headset Sound Problems

Hi, I recently bought an HP premium digital headset mostly for gaming purposes, but when I tried to play my usual first person shooters, the sound comes backwards. So for example, i hear footsteps coming from the left, but they're actually coming from the right in game. The only way to fix this problem is to have the microphone put on the other side, behind my head, but it's really frustrating not being able to talk to people. Is there any fix to this?

Yeah, it seems this headset has it backwards unless you bend it forward.

Weird, you need to fold it back, I need it to do it forward.

What's your harwdare lds? Mine is: USB\VID_03F0&PID_A007&REV_0100&MI_00

You can look it up in your HP audio device's properties, in device manager.

Also, after you launch some application that uses your audio device, it upsets the flow of your current audio channels in your headset, so you'll need to bend mic backwards in order for right side of headset to play right audio channel.

Something's not quite right with this headset, in media player classic at options I set right channel only and it comes through right channel while I check at Window's playback devices, in device's "configure speakers" option left channel and right channel are swapped (not correct).

Why in media player it's ok, but when you test it in device's settings it reports abnormal?

Hm, now this is confusing.

Now it's the same in both media player classic and at device's "configure speaker" option.

I think the headset was designed so that you could swap channels if either you plugged connectors wrongly in your motherboard or in your OS audio channels aren't being streamed as they need to (left / right channels are reverse).

Hi!

I had the same problem for a week, and as i regularly play games through Steam it was becoming a real annoyance! So in the end....And this is about to get very technical so pay attention!.... i pulled it to pieces! no need for software here my friend, take a small screwdriver to behind the speaker with the mic (it just pops out if you pull but don't snap the wire!), once you have that unscrewed the 4 little screws, there is a plastic 'bar' with a slightly larger screw in the middle, get that out and it will release the mic, now once that is out you will see two plastic tubes connected to eachother, one is where you just unscrewed it from and the other one is connected to that but smaller, this is the swine that flips the switch when you turn the mic from back to front and swaps the sound over, get some wire cutters and snap it off! Voilà! put it all back together and your sorted!

I know this sounds daunting and will probably void the warranty but it only took me 10 mins to do and now I'm sorted!

I just bought a headset - exactly the same problem. Fixed it by following OmegaPrime's instructions on dissasembling the headset - except there is no need to break the little plastic "tube" off at the end.

If you move the mic round, you will see that the tube just presses and releases a microswitch as it passes. Each time the switch is pressed the L & R channels swap. So just press the switch once without rotating the mike and everything is back in sequence - reassemlbe and all works fine, it will switch over correctly when you rotate the mic.

Hi I have 2 problems the first are when I play first person shoter I can hear they come from right but they really come from left, and vice versa, but if I put my mic out back the sound is from the right side. number 2 problem is after 3 mountes I could only hear the sounds in one ear when I put the mic forword I can hear in my left ear and when I put it back I can hear in my right ear I can not hear in both at the same time.

Always read to the end of the thread because it usually holds the correct answer. Now before you pick up a screwdriver. If you rotate the mic untill the microswitch presses, a keen ear is needed, once the microswitch has bean pressed through mid rotation return it back to the piont of origion, almost fulling the device (eye now it's an ananimit object) into thinking that the mic has swapped sides. alsas it has not, the mic has only went far enough to trigger the switch and then come back to the origional side. A serious fault and a simple remody. Why is there no spell Zceck on this cite?

I have same problem and this fix worked for me however if so many people are suffering from this issue surely HP would like to address the issue.

This isn't operator error this is clearly a design flaw that in my case was present from day one and I would liek to know if HP are going to address this issue at all?
