PointGrey Flea3 not being recognized in David 5

Product Name: David 5, PointGrey Flea3
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I use a PointGrey Flea3 USB 3 camera (single camera) with David 5. Previously the Flea3 would be available in the Camera Setup window without any problems.

Recently, I cannot get the PointGrey Flea3 to be recognized by David 5 at all. The camera works fine with Flycapture, so I know that there isn't an issue with the camera itself. The only thing that I have changed to my computer (Windows 10) is to update the driver for my Nvidia GTX 960 video card (besides any automatic OS updates).

Does anyone have any insight as to why this is happening?

Thanks,

Vince

Make sure that the Directshow DLL is correctly configured for PointGrey

You can run

DriverControlGUI.exe

from (this is my path to PointGrey installation folder):

C:\Program Files\Point Grey Research\FlyCapture2\bin64

Re: PointGrey Flea3 not being recognized in David 5

Thanks, I will give this a shot. Currently, I am doing all other usual troubleshooting (uninstalling all current flycapture software, drivers, folders, fresh install of David 5, etc.).

In your experience does configuring the Directshow DLL fix the issue of the camera not being recognized by David?

Re: PointGrey Flea3 not being recognized in David 5

ASAIK, David can only "see" cameras through Directshow (except for Canon live view).

If something happened to the Directshow configuration of the PointGrey, for sure you will not be able to see the camera in David.

You should start by this, especially since you are have an image from the camera through Flycapture viewer.

This will be my next step tomorrow (getting late for me tonight).

Any thoughts about this issue:

Did you resolve your Directshow issue with having the roll back Windows updates?

Re: PointGrey Flea3 not being recognized in David 5

I found a solution!!.

Download Manycams..

Now there is a trick to this.. i dont have the time today to clearly give details however ill do my best.

1. plug in 1 camera only

2. open many cams and keep it live at all times during operation of david.

3. go into device manager and refresh device recognition

4. plug in camera 2

5. go into device manager and refresh device recognition.

6. open up david

7. you will see many cams selection and your camera

enjoy

The device manager only recognizes one camera becasue they share the same information and you need to cheat the computer to think there is two .. it wont work just by using manycams or any software for that matter. its all about the process in the OS.

Re: PointGrey Flea3 not being recognized in David 5

Hello there!
            See your reply very excited!
I do not know if I can use two PointGrey cameras at the same time, I studied the day, or did not connect PointGrey to ManyCam, I could not find the PointGrey camera's IP or URL.
Can you tell me how to do it?
Grateful!
