Migrate HP Device Manager - HPDM to new server

Hi All,

 

I am in the process of migrating my HPDM install from postgres to MS-SQL on a new server.

 

I have setup the new server and exported as much data as I could.

 

I was not able to use the Backup & Restore tool. It failed with the following;

"SQL execution failed - com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'IF'.."

 

Anyway as stated I have setup the new server and it can see my devices but I am unable to send any commands/tasks to the machines.

 

my questions;

did I do the migration correctly?

Is there a white paper on this perhaps? 

Have I configured the gateway discovery correctly?

 

any help would be appreciated

I found one thing I missed... Exporting the Keys for security between the server and client.

 

found under:

"Tools" - "Authentication Management" - "Key Management"

 

export then import

Hi Jazzy,

For backup and restore tool, it only supports restoring the same database type data.

For example, if you backup a postgreSQL database, you can only restore it to postgreSQL, no SQL Server.
