This is some great news for the people of Arkansas and great to see call and contact centers start returning to the US. This article points to some fantastic opportunities for employment as well as providing great assisted phone and chat support for HP customers. YEAH HP!

On 3 March, approximately 600 HP employees and 200 special guests joined HP CEO Mark Hurd, Conway Mayor Tab Townsell, Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe, and other dignitaries in an inaugural celebration officially dedicating the new Contact Center site in Conway, Arkansas—cementing HP’s relationship with the city of Conway and the state of Arkansas. The new facility will provide customer service for home and business consumers and also house corporate account sales representatives.

The Conway site is the second of two new contact center locations established over the past year designed to accommodate Inside Sales, Service, and Support employees—enabling them to deliver superior customer support services from within a state-of-the-art, innovative, and high-quality work environment.

The two site placements are a key component of HP’s U.S. Global Location Strategy (GLS), which is aimed at developing best-in-class customer contact centers, optimizing call center operations, and leveraging workforce skills and capabilities across HP businesses.

Though the official site dedication has just now taken place, Conway employees have been serving HP customers from a temporary location in Little Rock, Arkansas since December of 2009. The Conway site is expected to be fully staffed over the next two years, bringing new employment opportunities to Arkansas residents while bringing customer support services back into the United States.

The new site is a welcome addition to the citizens of Conway and is expected to have an impact on Arkansas as a whole. The site dedication drew considerable local attention and positive coverage from both print and broadcast media, with the Associated Press declaring that “having HP in Conway will help the entire state of Arkansas build a reputation as a good home for high-tech companies.”

Conway was selected as an HP location in part because of its close proximity to higher education facilities and the local availability of an educated workforce. “HP is a company founded on innovation, focused on driving growth and the highest levels of service in the world,” said Mark Hurd during his visit to Conway. “HP demands great talent, and we believe we found that in Conway.”

The city of Conway strongly supports the site location efforts, embracing the opportunity to bring higher-paying jobs and an improved standard of living to the people of Arkansas.

“Arkansas is building a competitive 21st-century workforce, and HP is a prime example of the industries we are working to bring here,” said Beebe. “These are high-quality technology jobs that will keep qualified Arkansans in their home state, and draw companies to Arkansas as well.”

Conway is 30 minutes from Little Rock and is one of the fastest-growing cities in Arkansas. With a population nearing 60,000, the city has a thriving center and a wide variety of recreational, retail, and cultural amenities.
