HP Designjet 110 plus
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I have had my HP Designjet 110 plus printer for 9 years and some of the print heads mainly yellow need replacing. I bought a new yellow head and the printer wont accept it. All the heads are out of date, should I replace all of them?

Hi,

Take a lint free cloth damp with water and sit the printhead on it

IF no ink is comming out, you will need to replace it

Best regards

First off when you say the yellow needed replacement, was the printer telling you this or just yellow was not printing right.  If yellow was not printing right and put the old head back in the printer does it come to ready.  If it does, then you probably got a bad printhead.  I would return it for refund or exchange.  Do not worry about dates and do not replace heads that do not need replacing.  Only other thing you can try is to clean the flex connector in the back of the carriage assembly that mates with the contacts on the back side of the printhead.  You can usually use a coffee filter dampened in plain water.  Also keep in mind yellow is a probem with this series of printers.  The tube assembly tends to get clogged with the yellow. Only way to tell is to use a syringe to stick in the rubber piece in front of the carriage when you remove the printhead and see if you can draw ink into the syringe.  If the syringe end piece pulls back after you pull it up and no ink comes into the syringe, then you have a blockage and putting in a new printhead will do no good.  You will need to replace the tube assembly.
