9800GT video corruption after monitor powerof/poweron or sleep/wakeup

I have an HP d5200t ATX with a GeForce 9800GT 1GB card hooked up to an
HP w2558hc monitor. I see significant video corruption (red lines, etc)
often when the monitor is resumed from a sleep state, or sometimes even
when the system is power-cycled. This happens both while running an OS
like Vista or Linux, or even when booting up from scratch. Below are
4 images -- the boot screen in a bad/good state (ignore the camera
flash for the bad state), and a Vista desktop in a bad/good state.
Sometimes when in a bad state, the monitor reports that it is being
driven at 1922x1200 instead of 1920x1200.

Can you help me understand if this might be a driver issue or is it more likely a
hardware issue? I've searched around various forums, etc and haven't
found any mention of others having the same problem, which would tend
to indicate a bad card. Any insights would be greatly appreciated,
thanks!

Version number information:

Video BIOS: 62.92.34.00.35
Vista driver: 7.15.11.7578, 10/15/2008
Linux driver: 180.25

Re: 9800GT video corruption after monitor powerof/poweron or sleep/wakeup

It turns out this was a problem with the w2558hc monitor -- I am getting it replaced.
