Can I remove beats audio and use regular audio without it?
I don't like the colouration it ads to the sounds and find it to be quite useless.

Help!
I have an HP Touchsmart 520/1030 PC
I hasve not used my PC with any audio files for a couple of weeks. When I went to use it yesterday I kept getting the message: cannot find .startup file!
I have searched various programs and tried restore points up to a month ago. No success so I have tried ti reinstall the driver, used rollback but all to no avail. No other problems but how do I restore sound to my PC?

Make sure the active playback device is selected in the "sound" settings (control panel or taskbar).
I'm still trying to figure out how to remove the "beats audio"crap.

Hi,
The Beats Audio interface is supplied by the HP IDT HD Audio driver, so try the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the PC and let Windows fully load - it should install a generic Audio Driver for your device as your Desktop is loading ( you should see a message to this effect ), so give it a couple of minutes to do this.
Regards,
DP-K

How do you bring back the volume level indicator?
I've updated the current IDT audio driver and the Beats Audio Swirl volume indicator disappeared. There's no Win7 volume indicator so it's difficult to know what volume level it is until you play the music/video and hear it!
Looks like the IDT audio updates removed that function feature ![]()
Thank you!

Hi,
I followed your exact instructions, however, when I restart Windows 7 and let it install a generic Audio Driver, it reinstalls the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC (and hence reinstalls the hellish Beats Audio) !!
Would you be able to give me any further instructions ?
Thanks you.
Arthur.
