Blank Screen

I have a HP H8-1210 running Windows 7 64 bit with 10GB of RAM.

A game that my son was playing asked if he wanted to use DirectX 11.  He said yes.  The screen went blank, even though the PC was still running.

Now on startup, the screen works until the desktop should appear, at which time the screen goes blank.  The display works if I hit ctl/alt/del for the option screen, but won't display the desktop.

The display also works in safe mode.

I tried system restore, but it did not help.

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks.

Re: Blank Screen

Change the settings in safe mode
Check the settings in Nvidia Nview manager.

Re: Blank Screen

Hi again,

first, your Video graphics is:
NVIDIA GeForce GT 520
right?
(from your specs:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03157555&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5192441
)

Maybe it's more simple to install the graphics driver.
Do you have the newerst driver of this card?
If no - you can get it at www.nvidia.com.
You should be able to get it in safe mode too.
Install the new driver.
Maybe that's enough to get it to work again.
Else un-install the driver first.
