HP 2310t Calibration

Hi all,

Bought myself the hp 2310t touchscreen monitor yesterday.  i cannot get it to read accurately enough.

I have run the standard Win7 calibration setups which still left me getting incorrect presses in certain areas of the screen.

I ran the customized calibration routines with more points as detailed by

http://www.xiirus.net/articles/article-vista-calibrate-your-tablettouchscreen-with-more-points-92oq6...

but not working either.

The issue i have is that in certain areas of the screen when i try hit the maximize/minimize/close button it will frequently register the wrong one, this also happens when i try hit scroll bars and from time to time input panels, everything seems shifted by 5 to 10mm. This only occurs in certain areas of the screen, other areas are spot on.

This essentially makes this entire unit useless to me if it cannot read finger presses accurately. Is there a manufacturer calibration utility that i can run to target the "bad" areas of the screen to fix the misalignments? The worst areas seem to be near the top left and in a zone about 2/3rds to the right of the monitor.

Lastly, when I go to your drivers page it allows me to download a 470mb touchscreen pack of applications for my monitor, which then will NOT install because I dont have an hp pc. You need to clarify on that download page that the file is in fact not useful for buyers of that hardware unless they ALSO own the touchsmart pc. Preferably remove it from the downloads section for this monitor and move it to the touchsmart downloads area?

my system specs as follows fwiw:

Intel i7 930 @ 2.8ghz

12gb Ram

Win7 Home Premium 64Bit

GF GTX 460 768mb

your input awaited, But i suspect this issue cannot be addressed, in which case i will be returning this unit for a refund.

Re: HP 2310t Calibration

Check the NVIDIA web site for the latest monitor driver.  Are these the drivers that you tried to use?

This forum is not monitored by HP for problem and issues.  The forum is basically a user forum.  Some HP employees do volunteer time when they do come to this forum.

Your monitor is under a 21 day return policy and after that it is a warranty issue.  You might ask HP support for assistance.

HP's support number is 800-474-6836 or 800-HPINVENT or online here.

Re: HP 2310t Calibration

ahhhhhhhh ok, wrong area then, I will lodge a ticket with hp support. I love the screen but it definately has issues.

I am using no driver from HP, pluigged in and play, the only drivers shipped with the monitor are winxp drivers, the booklet says with vista/win7 no drivers required.

My video card drivers are up to date, I use many cad applications  (Maya, Autocad, Rhinoceros3d, Zbrush etc etc, so this part of my pc is well cared for) I also own other touch devices like my Cinteq tablet and my iPad etc so the concept of touch interface is not new to me. This fail was a litte dissapointing.

I ran another calibration setup using this input

tabcal lincal novalidate XGridPts=10,128,256,384,512,640,768,896,1024,1152,1280,1408,1536,1664,1792,1910 YGridPts=10,128,256,384,512,640,768,896,1024

which draws a grid over the entire screen. This brought to light the issue more clearly. the topmost line, from about halfway over till the second last cross on the top row I had to press multiple times, up to 8 times in one case, to get it to even register a press.

I will contact HP support directly and point them to this thread too.

Thank you for your fast response, kudos registered.

Re: HP 2310t Calibration

Hey all.. just an update..

5 weeks into ownership the screen started flickering and then displaying horizontal scanlines across half the screen. it was returned to place of purchase for swop out. After 4 more weeks of phonecalls back and forward I was told HP was going to replace it with a regular (non touch) 23 inch monitor. I freaked out of course, but haev been able to confirm that HP will in fact not be able to repair this monitor or replace it with like. I suspect the reason for this is that this monitor was made by a taiwanese firm and not linked to the nextwindow group that produce the new one.

so..

here i sit.. $600 out of pocket and the happily the store in question is going to replace thsi with another unit they have in another store on monday or pass a store credit for me, but i will say this.. i will NEVER buy another HP product. This company sucks big old donkey dong. the tech support gave NO ANSWER to any of my queries , the warranty support was vague and non commital about anything, all up a very very poor showing by hp.

from now on my money goes to sony.
