HP Pavilion p6-2133w brand new will not display to hdtv

I bought a DVI-D  adaptor so that I can hook the computer up to my tv. When I did plug it up to tv connection, the tv did not receive a signal. Do I have to buy a new hp monitor to get it to display?

Which port on pc side , which on tv side do you use?

TV is the only display then?
So tv is connected when pc is booting up?

Sorry, but this kind of adapter is not working!
(Also it is sold - what a pity)

VGA is analog, dvi-d (and also your dvi port) is digital.
So your tv can't understand the signals.

You would need a vga-to dvi-converter (analog-digital).

Do your tv has another input port (digital)?

maybe i said it wrong, buyt my tv is vga port. so i need a dvi-d to vga analog converter?

Yes you would need a converter.
hdmi is digital also.
Maybe it's better to use a tv with digital input
You also can change the graphics card, but if you use a better one, than you have to change the psu too .....
