HP S2031 monitor problems

Hi , i recently bought the HP S2031 monitor so i can use it for HD gaming ( Ps3 ) and also bought a DVI to HDMI digital video cable so i could hook it up to my monitor, but when i go to the DVI source and try to turn on HD settings for my playstation , it says that i need to change the resolution to 1600x900. I have beenn looking through manuals , the HP CD that it came with , and the internet for help , but i have found nothing. please help me find out how to change the resolution to the DVI source so i can play in HD for once.

I don't have a PS3 but I believe you have to change the resolution in the play station 3. Here are instructions I just found with a web browser:

thanks , but i actually found out only hours after that u have to manually switch it to 720p and it was trying to go to 1080p , so if anyone wants to know u go to display settings the video settings and just chane it there.

Hi , I had a problem with this, i put my ps3 to 720p and connected it to this monitor, but all im getting is a black screen. Can you point me to the right direction?
