HP p6565uk - BIOS Logo, Windows Logo then Black screen.

I have just purchased a HP p6565uk computer and connected it up.

 

When I switch it on I get the HP BIOS logo followed by the 'Starting Windows' logo.  After about 10 seconds one of the fans inside the computer seems to quieten down, and then the screen goes completely blank (black).  The light on the monitor stays on (ie, not going into standby).

 

The hard drive continues to tick away (as well as the hard drive light), but nothing is on the screen.

 

I'm not sure if it is a fault with the video card (NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 230), or whether there is something obvious I'm missing.

 

I've tried a factory restore of the factory image for the machine, but this hasn't helped.


It will get further if I go into sage mode - Actually get into windows, but then get a message saying it must reboot to run the first time install, etc - which then causes the above issue.

 

Anyone come across this before, know what the problem is, or can offer any help/advice.
