HP w2207h

Wen I try to update the driver for my HP w2207h, it simply states: "Windows encoutered a problem installing the driver software for your device. Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. Access is denied".

I tryied the following suggestion;

 http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Audio-Video-Monitors/quot-Access-Denied-quot-error-when-attempt..., but could not get it to work.

Re: HP w2207h

Ok, looks like it worked because the updating went through this time and it game me the message: "The best driver software for your device  is already installed". But under "Device Manager" my minitor still has a little (?); Should I just leave that alone then?

Re: HP w2207h

If you right-click and install the INF file, that should populate the name field for the monitor in device manager. The "best driver" for your device is the name that Windows plug-and-play detected and is using... which probably is working fine. But to get all the details, you should install from the INF.

Does the driver that you downloaded for the w2207h match the operating system on your PC?

Actually one last question. Under "Device Manager" >Monitors>HP w2207 Wide LCD Mnitor; I right-clicked, properties, driver details it has two lines:

C:\Windows\system32\monito.sys

C:\Windows\system32\spool\drivers\color\HP_w2207.icm

My computer is using Windows Vista 64-bit, does this mean the wrong driver is installed for my monitor?

I only ask because under windows update it gives me an update suggestion, but I get the error Code 80070103 when I try installing it.

No. Most apps are 32-bit and can be run in 64 bit OS. The sys file is basically the driver portion of your driver package. The icm file is an image color matching file and contains values that have the system make fine adjustments to get the best possible colors for your monitor.

Not sure about the error - sounds like a separate issue. You can prevent the update if you do not want it.
