HP w2448hc makes weird popping sounds [ Edited ]

Hello!

Today my monitor started to make weird noises. Small but weird. When there are too much whites or bright colors, the monitor makes small popping sounds in the back like if it was "frying". They're not very frequent but they're there.

I bought the monitor just two months ago and I don't know what is going on. Can someone help me? Can this be just fatigue? (I use my pc a lot and the monitor is turned many hours in a row)

Model: HP w2448hc (connected with the HDMI cable and an adaptor to DVI for the graphic card)

OS: Windows 7 beta

Graphics Card: Asus Geforce GTX 285

Driver Version: nVidia 186.18

Now the sounds are frequent. Since I've turned it on one hour ago it is making the little crispy sounds.

I'm getting worried. Now it isn't even with too much brightness.

The monitor was so expensive... I don't want it to fry! What should I do??

My HP w2448hc is just a day old and I am experiencing the same problem. My monitor makes those "crackling" frying noises and sounds when brightness is lower than 75 or ALS is turned on and it turns the brightness down.

I'm using the following specs:
Model: HP w2448hc - connected via DVI
OS: Windows 7 Beta
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT
Graphics Driver: 190.38

I do have the latest monitor driver installed as well as the HP My Display application.

The weird sounds go away when I'm turning the brightness higher than 75 on my configuration.
I'm sure they don't come out of the monitor speakers.

It would be great to get some feedback about this problem here. Thank you!

I emailed the HP support for my country and they said that they were going to exchange my monitor for a new one. They are going to send me a new monitor and take the old one away. I think this is a factory defect and more monitors have/had the same problem, or else they wouldn't exchange it without further analysis or tests.

I sugest you do the same, contact the HP support and tell them what's happening.

They take one working day to reply to you. Uf they see your email by monday, the'll reply to you on tuesday.

I'm waiting for the exchange for 2 weeks now because their warehouse ran out of stock.
