HP w2558hc Problem

Every time i trun on my computer my monitor will turn black for about 3 minuets and i can see little white lines in the middle of screen. It's not the video card because i've tried it on about 3 different video cards both nvida and ati. My monitor is connected to my graphics card through HDMI. Native resolution is 1900x1200 at 60 hz. I've tried switch from HDMI to DVI and nothing same effect.I would like to know how remove this flicker.Thanks.

It came in a bundle with the m9517c. And the operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate 64x with lastest catalyst drivers from ATI. But a couple of weeks ago i had Windows Vista Ultimate 64x and with lastest nVIDA drivers at that time and the same thing happend.

Re: HP w2558hc Problem

SD, if it is happening with two different brands of video cards and two different operating systems, the one common denominator is the monitor.  Therefore, I believe that it is a problem with the monitor.  Also, it could be a problem with the signal caused by the cables.  These are the two most likely culprits.

Re: HP w2558hc Problem

Well i dont think it would be the cables because i've tried HDMI and DVI etc. And none work so i think your right. Does This mean that i have give my monitor to HP? If it came in a bundle do i have return the rest of the computer too? I have alot stuff on the harddrive and i dont want to back everything, i dont think it will fit...

Re: HP w2558hc Problem

SD, it is time to contact HP Customer Support.  They will tell you what you have to do.  I hope that all works out well for you.

Good luck!

Let's try one more attempt at solving this thing.  Here are the Support pages for your monitor.  It would be a good idea to look through the 'Solve a problem' and 'How to' sections to see if there are any solutions to help you.  It would be nice if something in those sections would help.

Re: HP w2558hc Problem

It could also be your memory since memory is shared between your PC and your graphics card. Did you add additional memory that did not come with the system? If so, remove them, then see if the issue still occurs?

Re: HP w2558hc Problem

No i did not it still has the 8 Gb of RAM that since i bought it. And it seems like the drivers or me removing the power saver settings on the monitor combined with take off monitor sleep option in windows helped alot. Booted up this morning only had a 3 second flash! That's better than 5 min normal ones!

Re: HP w2558hc Problem

Ok i found a cheap as easy fix for the flashing on the monitor! All you have to do is when the monitor is flashing like crazy just turn off the monitor and remove the power plug(the one behind the monitor, much easier) and then reinsert it back in and it should work as it was before! No flashing ! I think someone should sticky this thread because i've seen alot of people have problems with the flashing on this monitor all around the web.
