Installing Multimedia Audio Controller

Paul, I went back in and looked at the icon that had the red x and right clicked on it. For some reason, I didn't see the ENABLE icon. I clicked on it and now I have sound! Sorry to other ya.

Hey, wondering if you could help on this again.  When I play something with sound now, it plays thru the speakers on the pc but not on the external speakers that are plugged into the back of the pc.  Also, the gray speaker icon is missing fromt he bottom right of the screen.  Any idea as to how to get that piece back up and running?

Hi:

Go to the control panel and under sounds & audio devices, you can check the box to place the icon on the taskbar.

Something ain't right with something. When you plug in external speakers, the internal speaker should be disabled automatically. There is no way I can figure out from here what the issue could be.

I would get the set of recovery disks, if I were you, & reinstall XP using those.

They should still be available because this place has them. You can get them from HP for 1/3 of the cost.

my computer crash ,wipe out hard driver , i got every thing to work, but no sound ,the computer pop up with

no audio out device is installed, need mulit media audio  controller.
