In order to play a few more modern games, my wife wanted a new graphics adaptor for her Pavillion M7515UK desktop unit. It runs WinXP Media Centre, patched to latest updates from MS.
Swapped out the geforce 7300LE for a geforce 210.
Result is that the PC will now not get past the "checking NVRAM" part of the POST. Tried two different geforce 210s, so it's not a dodgy card. Failing before windows loads, so not a driver issue. Returning the 7300LE allows the machine to boot normally, so really rather a weird one, as the PC meets all the specs for the 210 we have (1GB RAM, 300W PSU, x16 PCI-E slot).
Any suggestions? Is there a later BIOS patch to allow for wider compatibility? BIOS version is 3.24 (01/18/07) with Core version 08.00.12

Ok, this is hypothetical, but are you sure? Have you tested it at another pc where they work?

Have you uninstalled the old graphics driver first?
The card fits properly?
... maybe the psu is not working properly?
Can you test another/bigger one?

There seems to be no newer one:
