Missing plug for my new Video card

I would like to find out if its possible to replace the video card ( Nvidia Geforce GT230) that came with my computer ( Hp pavilion p6370nl) ( windows 7)  with an Asus EAH5770 CUcore. ( it is supose to be compatible from what the Hp salesman in the store told me)

My problem is the Nvidia cards keep overheating and shutting down my monitor and cant be woken up unless i force a restart, i bought a new card ( the Ati card mentioned above )but when i tried to install it in its proper slot i am also supose to plug it into my computer somewhere ( this plug where it connects to my computer does not seem to be there)..on online video manuals of how to install this card it shows a bundle of wires and plugs inside the computer casing but mine does not have any of those...without this the card wont work and just makes that annoying beeping sound like its inproperly placed and does nothing :smileyhappy:..could someone ( who knows more about computers then me ( who knows nothing ) perhaps help me. i would really appreciate it! ty!

Re: Missing plug for my new Video card

Hi,

You are going to need a different power supply.  Your PC only has a 300 watt power supply.

Review this posted document for background information.

I typically don't recommend ATI 5xxx video cards for older HP PCs as sometimes there have been compatibility issues.

Re: Missing plug for my new Video card

The Radeon HD5770 (your Asus EAH5770 CUcore) needs an additional power connection.
Without this you get a constant beep.

Sometimes there's an adapter delivered from one (or two) 4-pin power cable coming from the psu (like for disks) to a 6-pin connector for the graphics card.

Bigger psus have this 6-pin connector as standard, smaller or older ones doesn't have it.

To run properly, AMD recommend a 450W psu!
