Monitor sound very low

I do not have external speakers, and use the inbuilt monitor ones. However, although the sound level is 100%, it is very low and I can hardly hear it.

What model HP PC and monitor are you using?  Are you using HDMI to connect the monitor to the PC?

Is the sound level in the monitor's menu 100% or just the Windows sound level 100% or both?

I am using a HP G5200uk computer, with a 20'' LCD monitor. It connects via a single lead from the 'sound out' plug on the computer; it has a green-coloured jack.

Try the latest audio driver from www.realtek.com

Sorry, I forgot to answer one of your questions; both monitor and computer sound levels read 100%.

Thanks for suggestions, but  as computer is new (just bought in December) and as I am very computer illiterate, I don't want to mess with the drivers.

During the week I will phone HP to ask for advice.
