2311x Led Monitor (Product number xp598aa) keeps turning off. It does it even while I am using my computer. I tried the VGA and DVI cables and had the same problem with both. If I unplug the power cord and replug it in, it will reset but then it will happen again. Sometimes its a few times a day sometimes its a few times an hour. I use Windows Xp and have graphics card Nvidia GeForce 6200 pci 512mb ddr2 made by evga.

I'm having a similar problem with my 2311x. In my case my monitor will display the Monitor Status 'searhing input' display when it's turned on and will properly show that it sees the DVI signal from my computer. Then after 10 seconds or so the monitor goes to sleep.
The only OSD menu I can bring up when the display is in this state is Source Control screen, but I can't change anything before the monitor goes into sleep mode.
Both times this happened it was after the power to the computer and monitor were interrupted. (One of our cats happened to step on the UPS power button and shut it off!)
I fixed the problem once before, but for the life of my I can't remember what I did to correct this problem.
Is there a means of forcing a hard reset at power up? It seems to me that the microcontroller (or whatever HP is using for this monitor) has ended up in a 'confused' state and the memory for its settings needs to be cleared to put it back to the factory defaults. (Remember, there's no proper access to the OSD menu.)

Try a monitor reset. Unplug the monitor’s power cord and hold down the monitor’s power button for 30-60 seconds. Plug the monitor back in and power it up.

I followed the reset you laid out, but no dice. Are you sure the reset can be forced with the power disconnected? I would think some kind of power would be required to force the reset.

Try another monitor and cable on your PC to eliminate the PC as the possible problem. Alternatively, try your monitor and cable on another PC.

I have tried an identical monitor on my machine and it worked correctly. I have also tried my monitor on another machine and it still 'ignores' the active signal and goes to sleep.

So what do you think if an identical monitor works correctly?
With the identical monitor operating with your PC, quickly switch the cable to this monitor and see if you can get into the monitor's menu. If that works then do a factory reset.

I tried other cables and it does the same thing. Have tried it on another computer and the same thing. Is there a way to tell if it is doing a reset? Will it say anything? I triend holding it down like said with the power disscounted and with it connected and does not seem to be doing anything at all?

I tried a reset again, but this time with the video cable disconnected. This time at power up t got past the Monitor Status screen then displayed "Check Video Cable" If I disconnected the cable the warning went away and the monitor immediately went to sleep. There's still no access to the OSD menu.
First thing tomorrow I will call HP support and get this taken care of as the monitor is still under warrantee.
