I got an HP2311x monitor last November but I did not open the box and set it up until now and tried it with my laptop. I made sure that I did everything as what the manual had instructed for first time set up. When I tried to turn it on, it failed. Tried to check my connections and all were okay. The green led light on the rear of the monitor next to the power plug connector is on but the power button led is not on. Is my monitor broken? Thanks.

Try a monitor reset. Unplug the monitor’s power cord and hold down the monitor’s power button for 30-60 seconds. Plug the monitor back in and power it up. Do you see a monitor status message? (scanning for a video source).
Try this article.
If the above doesn't solve your problem then contact HP Support since your monitor is still convered by warranty.
