Ongoing Issue HP Pavilion Display/Graphics & Audio Drivers H8-1260t
Please help - desparate:
I have a new HP Pavilion H8-1260t (purchased from Costco). My employer requires Win7 Professional (x64) to access their LAN. I purchased a new copy of Windows 7 Pro x64 recently, and its been downhill since (and several Costco Concierge "and" HP support phone calls).
I was able to get the drivers for all installed hardware "except" I can't get the HP 25" display (HP 2511x) to show the correct resolution using the ATI or AMD drivers (tried both). Also, the IDT audio driver won't install right (maybe connected to the graphics issue too. All I need is to get the right Graphics and HDMI audio drivers so I can run the HP 25" monitor at the correct resolution.
With a "fresh install" "each time," I've tried:
- Every possible driver available from the HP H8-1260t driver download page none of the graphics drivers work.
- Letting HP Support Assistant find the drivers, and it installs the wrong ones.
- I've tried using a 3rd party driver finder (Advanced Driver Updater) and it also misses the correct display driver. I also tried backing up the drivers on a working factory image of the HP H8-1260t (5-disks) and "that" doesn't work!
Is all of this because I have a special Costco build? ...and if I did, why wouldn't HP provide the correct drivers for that PC?
Again, I'm desparate and would be very grateful if someone would help me get the right resolution on my (HP-2511x) 25" HP monitor and for the audio to install correctly.
Here's the part number for the factory image CD's that is correct - but I can't pull drivers from it because its compressed msi files:

Hi:
I would try the latest video driver from AMD. Top download.
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Page
If you need the HDMI audio driver, I believe you need the one on the Realtek site.
Accept the agreement. Download and install the 8th file listed (ATI HDMI Audio Device)
Lastly, I recommend you install the monitor driver for your monitor.

Paul,
I erased the drive (again) and installed Win7 Pro. Then I installed the chipset and other drivers, and finally graphics as you suggested. No joy. Distortion.
Here is what I noticed:
1 - After installing that AMD graphics driver, the maximum resolution offered is only 1400x1050 (it should be 1920x1080).
2 - The first AMD driver also installed the HDMI audio. Then installed the Realtek HDMI to see if it made a difference, but it didn't.
3 - Installed the 2511 monitor driver and it didn't help, The highest resolution is 1400x1050.
Noticed that in the "Change the appearance of your display" screen that the "name" of the monitor is:
"HP 2511 Series Wide LCD Monitor on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter"
...rather than the factory load description:
"HP 2511 Series Wide LCD Monitor"
Also noticed that in the Advanced adapter settings the new description is:
"Standard VGA Graphics Adapter"
...rather than the factory load:
"AMD Radeon 7570 Adapter"
The last thing that seemed odd was that there's sin't any Catalyst software on the new drivers, and with the factory load it was there - ATI/AMD graphics management software.
Someone at HP must know the answers, its not a hard question for the person that knows...
Thanks for helping me, but need more things to try..
Dave

Thank you V - I uninstalled the previous driver and then installed the driver you suggested. After rebooting there It didn't give me a better resolution than the other wrong drivers.
Just so you know, I've installed video drivers from both AMD and ATI support pages with no difference.
I hope there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I took delivery of this PC on March 31. I still don't have it running.
What else can we do?

Hi, Dave:
Unfortunately, I don't have a clue, since you have tried everything I would have done.
You did install the drivers in the recommended order and reboot after each installation, correct?
1. Chipset
2. Video (graphics)
3. Audio

Hello Paul -
Yes, that is exactly what I've done (I've reimaged before and never had a touph time when I get the right drivers. As you know, most graphic card drivers install well, and the minute you reboot they show the improved resolution. This one is very strange indeed. I bought a 170t about a year ago or more and remember it being tricky, but we figured it out in a day or two.
Thanks for hanging in...
- I'm convinced that there's a different configuration and build for Costco PCs. Can this be escalated to someone that might have background with Costco builds?

Which one do you use?
What cable/adapters do you use?
Have you already tried the other port(s)?
