Re: Ongoing Issue HP Pavilion Display/Graphics & Audio Drivers H8-1260t

Maybe it's cable-related - which outputs at the graphics card do you have?
Which one do you use?
What cable/adapters do you use?
Have you already tried the other port(s)?

Hi V,

My card has DisplayPort, HDMI, and VGA.

I use the HDMI (thanks to the HDMI driver from IDT).

I use the HDMI cable (both PC and monitor have the connectors).

Great idea!!  (could it that easy?)  I'll check and respond (I need to dig up the VGA and displayPort adapter).

Thanks

When you say the "resolution isnt right" are you talking about the edges not quite fitting your monitor? There is an adjustment on the catalyst control center that makes that adjustment. When you right click on your desktop is there a Catalyst Control Center option?  If not, it probably didnt install.

Recently I did a fresh install of Win7 on a new SSD and as a result I have been unable to install the CCC. I think the link vnyga provided in an earlier post gets you to one of the install packages that IMO should install the CCC, but the installer skips over it for some reason.  During the custom install from the AMD bundle there is a screen that list options to install, and the catalyst is mysteriously missing.

Re: Ongoing Issue HP Pavilion Display/Graphics & Audio Drivers H8-1260t

I have an update, and what I chose to do.  It isn't pretty, unfortunately.  AMD tech rep said (phone call for support) that the Video card installed in my HP was not build by AMD, but by HP.  He said that HP bought the components and wrote the code for drivers.  He said that HP hasn't shared the code with them.  I see from all the time this took that HP is either unwilling or unable to share the driver that comes on the delivered PC.  My recommendation to people who have the same problem is to expect not to re-image their PC.  HP doesn't provide the driver that provides correct resolutions without using the 5-CD reinstall set - in other words, "on your own" you can't install Windows, then the drivers and expect the 25 inch monitor to display like it came from the factory.

My resolution was to take the PC back to Costco and get my money back.  I then bought a different brand of PC (which did supply the Windows 7 disk and correct drivers).

Thank you

Re: Ongoing Issue HP Pavilion Display/Graphics & Audio Drivers H8-1260t

I thought I'd clarify for this forum - even though in my recent post I've returned the PC...

The resolution problem was not only an issue of scaling (the picture not filling the screen), but the picture was not clear, and appeared to be very watered down (grainy - maybe 256 colors instead of 32,000).  It was rough on the eyes after a while.

A key thing I learned in this hunt was that some manufacturers feel you shouldn't want to remove bloatware and make it difficult to start from nothing and build a bare-bones image.  Other manufacturers (even main-stream ones) quickly send you the Windows DVD (OEM) and all applicable drivers on a 2nd CD.  I'm not sure why the prior would care, but it is so.
