hi, i was wondering if someone can help with some advice.
i recently bought this monitor (W2228H), and tried connecting my PS3 to it last night, using HDMI. whilst it works, the picture is distorted, as the aspect ratio of the monitor is 16:10 (i think) and the aspect ratio of PS3 output(s) is 16:9. so the picture is vertically stretched. i hoped there will be a setting either on the monitor or the PS3 to "force" the correct aspect ratio (so i'd have a letterbox effect, with some black bars top and bottom), but i've not been able to set this up, and was wondering if anyone else has been successful, or if this is something that can't actually be done, and i'll just have to accept it as is.

Any idea what the resolution of your game is? Some are 720p, others are 1080p. What happens if you change the output resolution on the PS3 to 720p (or try 1080p)? (See the manual on playstation.net in the link above.)
I'm thinking about buying a monitor like the 2228H for my computer, but using it later for a second PS3. I'm curious: what happens to 1080p/i video on this monitor? Is it resized to 1050 or cropped or just not supported?

Hi, sorry for the late reply. This game is 720p. If I leave the output on the PS3 on 1080p (which is what it's on most of the time, as it's normally connected to my 1080p LCD TV), the picture still shows on the monitor, but it's resized to 1680x1050 (i.e. the monitor's resolution), so again, it's a bit vertically stretched (in order to get the correct aspect ratio on this monitor, the picture should be at 1680x945 resolution, so the black bars should be 52.5 pixels wide on top and bottom).
Not sure what you mean, you don't need any other cable other than HDMI which carries both video and sound.

You can connect the HDMI cable from PS3 to lcd monitor and if the lcd has builtin speakers the hdmi cable will also carry the sound signals and give otu sound through them.
The Red and White are stereo right and left audio channels used to connect to get your sound from your ps3.

Hey guys I tried to hook my ps3 up to the the monitor (w2228h), the resolution starts to be at 1080 at the ps3 home screen but as the game loads, it goes down to 760 ( i think) and theres no audio for some reason. Can anyone help???
