I had a problem with my computer and reinstalled Windows XP. Now the screens scroll iratically. It is because the video driver is not installed properly. I downloaded the latest drivers from HP for graphics and sound for this computer and installed them. Still nothing. I am concerned that the video card itself may be damaged. I have had not luck running the automated check for driver software either on the AMD site or the HP site.
Under device manager there are question marks for the following
Other Devices
Multimedia Controller
PCI simple Communications controller
SM BUS controller
Video Controller (GA Compatible)

I forgot to say I had also went to the AMD site and downloaded and tried to install the catalyst software 10.2 version. When it went to install I got the error that it could not locate any hardware components on my computer requiring the software so it does not install. I was assuming either somehow my video card has gone bad. Or something to do with one of the other drivers that I listed that still have question marks are required for the video card to be seen.
Still thank you for trying to help though. If you have any other suggestions let me know.

Actually I got this computer from a friend. I finally figured out that he had a Nividia GE Force 6600DDR Video board in by visually seeing it. So that explains why the Radeon drivers were not working. I was able to download a driver for the video card. So that works great now. The video was the real problem as the scrolling was choppy.
Still under the device manager it says as not installed
Multimedia controller
PCI Simple Communications Controller
I am not sure how critical these components are or if I even need them. Still I will install them if I can find them.
Thanks again for all your help. Sorry I did not have all the information about the video card earlier. I had no idea how to identify it until my friend suggested it was the board that the monitor plugged in to like that was a duh type moment.
