Q2009 lcd display looks bad

Went out and bought a new Q2009 lcd display after my old display went south. Initially it looked very bad, like wrong settings although it was set at 60hz and 1600x900 . So I went and updated to the latest driver for monitor and video card, but it still displays very bad... most noticeably in browsers with some buttons and text boxes not even displaying. Have I overlooked something?

Current set up:

HP a220n computer running XP w/ service pack 3

NVIDIA GeForce4 MX -  93.71 driver

Compaq Q2009 20" display (set at 1600x900 60hz)

Re: Q2009 lcd display looks bad

My first suggestion is to hook up another monitor if you can and see if it is better, if it is then yes monitor is issue. If you still have a problem then I would look into the video card/onboard video as the issue.  If you find it to be a monitor I suggest getting a Samsung LED or LCD monitor as I have 2 and I have never had an issue, and one of them is 5yrs old.

Re: Q2009 lcd display looks bad

I have come to the conclusion that it is just an older built in graphics card that doesn't like the new monitor... even though it is the latest driver it is still pretty old (and my guess nvidia won't be updating it). I connected the monitor to my laptop and it displayed ok, I have removed and reinstalled the driver without any improvement. So I will see about a new card.

Thanks

What are the specs for your computer?  I am guessing it is older, so you might not have too many choices.
