Screen goes blank

Sometimes when I move the mouse to bring back up my computer the screen goes blank. The only way I have found to get it back is to shut down the computer manually or turn off the power and turn it back on. Is there a way to restore the screen another way? My computer is a HP Touch Smart 300-1025. OS is Windows 7.

I am having the same problem--both when I come back and try to "wake up" the PC and the screen refuses to come back to life as well as sometimes smack in the middle of doing something.  Just today I was mid-sentence in a Word document when I thought I was having a typeahead problem but after about 2 seconds the screen just went blank/black and nothing short of powering down and restarting would get me back in business.  Very frustrating.  I'm using a TouchSmart 310PC.
