Re: Side USB port not working on W2207

have your plug the usb cable to the monitor and to the desktop

it will not work through the vga or dvi or hdmi

the usb cable is provide for that monitor you purchased

and how long you have had your monitor

Re: Side USB port not working on W2207

What USB cable? The monitor itself works great, its the 2 "extra" usb ports that are inop.

Can you be a little bit more specific please.

Thanks

Re: Side USB port not working on W2207

Your monitor "extends" the USB ports from a PC to your monitor -  i.e. it has a built-in USB hub, You need to run a USB cable that has both an A and a B connector to the PC and the monitor.

Here is your setup poster:

Look at step 2c.

Re: Side USB port not working on W2207

you can use any thing for that port on the monitor

i would not use the printer and the scanner on that port but directly to the computer or external usb hub

those 2 devices are very heavy demand when in use and a lot of data is transfer through the usb cable

Re: Side USB port not working on W2207

If you connect the cable, as shown in 2c, then the ports shown in 2e will become active. To put it another way, when the cable is connected and you stick a USB drive into the ports on the side, the data from the USB drive can go through the monitor - through the cable, and into your computer.

I have the same question!! I have my USB port hooked up fine in the back. Monitor is working great. Cable-->>Monitor--->>Computer. HOWEVER....The USB ports located on the left side of the monitor (as you are looking face forward at the screen) are not working. I have plugged in my wireless mouse/keyboard...won't work...tried my webcam...won't work...video cam...won't work. Now you get the picture??? Same question the other guy was asking.

Thank you

Re: Side USB port not working on W2207

Same problem here.

I have my HP w2207 for about 1 year. Its model with DVI, without HDMI.

On the first run all works perfectly, but since few months USB is not recognized, and windows xp creator, try to instal driver.

I've try another USB A-B cable, try reinstal drivers, software, diagnostic and now i have a new motheroard and reinstaled windows with sp3. Without sucsess.

Any solution exist or i must send my hardware to service?

Re: Side USB port not working on W2207

OK. Here's thing. Don't plug in anything in those USB ports yet.

Check the link below.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01368612.pdf

Look under picture 2c.

In order for those or that usb port to work they need to be powered and the lcd doesn't power them. They are part of a hub.

So what you need to do is take a USB cable and plug the square end of it into the monitor's side usb port that reads USB IN as shown in the picture above and the other of the usb cable that's rectangular/flat silver shaped plug it into the back of the computer into any free USB port connection.

You must this do this step and that cable must always be conencted this way for the other usb port/ports to be usable on the side of the monitor.
