Startup problem

[ Edited ]

Hi !

Since few weeks, when I get to my computer in the morning (never shut it down), I try to get the desktop, but I get a black screen instead.

So I click on the "Sleep" button on keyboard, than click again to "wake up" but still a black screen. Have to do the same operation again, then I get my computer back...

So I disabled ALL kind of sleep mode, screen, hard drives, etc.... No I have to RESTART the computer to get an image. After this reboot, everything works fine all day....

Same problem is back morning after...........

Pavilion P6110f, Windows Vista upgraded to Win 7, 64 bits

Any suggestion is welcome.

Very disappointed with an HP computer that is only TWO (2) years old......

Thanks !

Jacques

Re: Startup problem

Hello,

You do not shutdown you computer and the screen is black always? You always leave your computer on all the time, also the LCD you have connected to your PC; did i understand it correctly?

is the monitor in sleep mode or is it the computer that is on sleep mode? What is the status of the LED for the desktop, for the power button, is it off, amber or what is the color?

Also, what is the power led status for the monitor you have? WHat is the monitor model and brand you have and what is the connection type being used, onboard VGA?

Either the computer is in slep mode and you can't wake it up or is it something to do with your video card, which in this case its onboard...try to remove the video card driver and install it again, also do check how the card is detected in device manager and let us know.

Do you have any external device connected to your unit? Did you change any HW? What is the current BIOS version you have?

But lets gather the info I requested and lets see what we can do.

THanks,
