Vid Card Problem-m8400f Desktop

PC= HP Pavilion Media Center m8400f Desktop PC

OS= Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit

I am trying to install a new video card.

The card is a EVGA Geforce GTX570.

The card won't fit due to the sata connections from the motherboard.

Is there any type of adaptor or riser that would allow the card to sit around 1/4 inch more off the motherboard?

("L" shaped connectors won't work because the sata conns are too close together)

If not is there any way to make the GTX570 fit in this PC?

I have already upgraded the power supply to 600w.

Motherboard below. Thanks in advance.

Zvon, welcome to the forum.

This card is 10.5" in length.  I recommend staying at 9" or less.  Some members have installed cards that were 9.25" without problems.

Personally, I wouldn't install the card.

Here is a card that would fit and should give you similar performance:

Thank you very much for the prompt reply. I'll send this card back and order that one. And I'll return and wrap this thread when its installed. Thanks again :smileyhappy:

Zvon, it is my pleasure.  You can read the Customer Reviews on the card in my link.  These user seem to be very happy with it.  We will be waiting for your followup.

Re: Vid Card Problem-m8400f Desktop

A follow up and wrap-

The 570HD would still not sit properly because of the sata cable outlets on the motherboard.

It was only blocked by one cable instead of all three. I was able to purchase a right angle sata cable that solved that problem. I did have to push the second sata connection down a bit to make the card fit, but not so much that it was a problem.

I suggest you include the information about the need for a right angle sata cable (18in) when advising a customer who is trying to put a 570HD video card in a HP Pavilion Media Center m8400f PC.

The cards in, it works great, and I thank you for your help and for suggesting this video card. Even with the slight complications it was well worth upgrading to this card :smileyhappy:
