Video card getting hot

I have a hp model# p6310f. I am running windows 7. Lately my video card is getting to hot and shutting down my computer. I have already replaced the fan, and replaced the thermal heat paste. My next option was to add another video card. The video card in my computer is on the motherboard. I have tried adding another video card  to the expansion slot but when i turn back on my compter, I get a screen that says launch startup repair. I do that and after it finishes i get the same message. When i take the video card out my computer starts up like it should. How can I disable the video card on the motherboard so I can add another video card.

What video card are you using?

What application(s) are you using to cause the video card to overheat?

When you install a discrete video card, the on board video processor gets disabled by the bios when the card is detected.  You might need to run with the on board video processor until you get a new video.  Be sure to match the new video card with the size of power supply in your PC. (spec'd for 300 watts)

The video card I have is a NVIDIA Geforce 9100, the one that originally came with computer, I have not changed anthing that did not come standard on the computer. My video card seems only to be getting hot when I play games such as the bigfish games.

Hi,

OK. Your PC is using a on board video processor chip and not a discrete video card.  You might try a discrete video card that will work with a 300 watt power supply and see if your problem goes away.

Games typically will stress the video processing chip.

Integrated graphics is not available if a graphics card is installed

Which additional card did you try?

Your psu has 300W only, so your card has to match this.

Do you think I may be looking at this all wrong? Could there be another reason for this problem? And how can I disable the onboard video chip to add another video card?  I was given this video card cant find a name so I try to input as much about it as i can find

With your psu you can use medium cards like
Nvidia GT 220, 520, 430,440
A bigger card (GT x50) would require a bigger psu.

Well, you said it's a hot graphics chip, so it would help.
Of course you should know, what graphical requirements 'bigfish games' have.
Maybe it helps to use a monitoring software for the gpu like GPU-Z:

It's niot pci-e!
I doubt that this will run in your pc - no driver, pci as graphics port maybe not supported, and I doubt that this card will be any bit better than your onboard!
