Why is my Music and Sound being distorted on my h8-1020?

Hi,

I've noticed many times while browsing the internet or listening on itunes, music will momentarily be distorted.  If I'm watching a movie on my PC, the distortion will also knock the sound out of sync with the video.  It can get really annoying.  Also, while playing Battlefield 3, The distortion will happen on occasion and make the game stutter for a moment and continue like normal.  Any ideas why this is happening?

I'm running on a HPE pavilion h8-1020 intel Core i7-2600S and an upgraded EVGA GeForce GTX 560 graphics card.  Nothing is overclocked and the system is running McAfee Total Protection and Iolo System mechanic as the only running programs with the above mentioned problems.  Also, I was getting the distortion even before upgrading the Video card.

I get no error messages, but this is really starting to get annoying. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could be having a HD audio conflict. Very well known if you install the Nvidia HD audio drivers while using on board audio. Either don't install the Nvidia HD audio drivers or disable them in device manager.

Awesome, Thanks.   Noticed Device Manager has multiple(5) drivers/devices installed as "NVIDIA High Definition Audio."  Disabled all but the Realtek drivers, gonna run the PC through a couple of tests and see if it has any effect, but so far its sounding good.
