bios upgrade Compaq (HP) presario 5350f

I have a Compaq (HP) Presario SR5350F that I desparately need to upgrade the BIOS.

Why, you may ask? I need to connect it to a new TV which only has HDMI input. Thus, I bought a NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS, which has HDMI out. My computer will not even see the hardware. I believe this is related to the video card being PCIExpress version 2.0 or 2.1. I appears my BIOS as of now only supports Ver 1.0.

Windows 7 Ultimate, 32bit

2gb Ram

CPU = Pentium Dual E2180 @2.0ghz

Using SiSoftware Sandra I get the following information:

Mainboard = ASUS Lancaster8 v1.04

Bios = ASUS (OEM) 5.16 10/01/2007

another place in Sandra also say BIOS = 63-0516-009999-00101111-100107-Lakeport

Would really like some help here.

Or, if BIOS cannot be upgraded, suggestions for a video card with HDMI out that will work.

Hi,

One thing you also need to check: power supply, you need juice to run more hardware. Please do not post many questions for a same topic.

Thanks for the suggestion on the power supply.  The fan on the video board powered up so I did not think power was a problem.  I will try it.

Sorry about the multiple posts.  Did not know how segregated the forums were.  And, this is the second HP forum (of 3)  I posted my request to and the only one where I have received an answer.

Sorry, I'm not talking about that kind of power, I'm talking a bout wattage of the power supply unit (PSU), I can not find its specs (the PSU) but you need at least 71 watt spare to be able to drive that card. Do you know the wattage of your PSU ?

Old PSU was 250 watts.  Replaced with 500 watt unit.  No dice.

I still think it is a BIOS problem.

Any more ideas.  How to get and flash updated BIOS?

Thanks for your suggestions.  I ended up getting a different graphics card that worked on my old PC.
