Re: brand new HP laptop with dead pixel. How to fix it

Hi , and welcome to the forum ,

If you have bought it recently , get it exchange from where you have bought.. There is 14 days return policy for store and 21 days return policy if you purchase it direct from HP .... If you bought it from HP , then call HP shopping number,,,,

Re: brand new HP laptop with dead pixel. How to fix it

The pixel might not be dead, but just stuck. It happens often and can be fixed.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/stucksweep/

This program (Stuck Pixel Sweeper) might help if that is the case. If this doesn't work then the pixel is most likely dead.

P.S. The program is open source so it is free and reliable. Users in the open source community take quality seriously. You just can't go wrong. Plus it's free! :smileywink:

this is a joke, I haven't been lucky enough to have a stuck pixel, my $900 laptop is exactly one year old, and I already have 3 DEAD pixels, but oh well it's 1 day over warranty, what a rip

I also have discovered a dead pixel just two days after purchase. If I get it replaced, what happens to the two years extended warranty I have purchased, because that thing has a serial number registered.

Debassih5849,

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and/or product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers that are all different. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.

Notebook LCD Replacement Criteria (subject to change / may be different for your exact model)

Re: brand new HP laptop with dead pixel. How to fix it

Hi, my model is HP Pavilion G6-2229TU. However I think there are two pixels always of adjacent to each other, so that should be covered. Now my question is do I get a replacement or do I have to take it to service center, as I have bought it only two days back. If I get a replacement, how do I update the 2 years extended warranty that I purchased?

Re: brand new HP laptop with dead pixel. How to fix it

If you just purchased it, I would return it the retail location where you bought. You may have to show them or prove to them the defect before they will accept the return/exchange.

Re: brand new HP laptop with dead pixel. How to fix it

Thanks for all the help. I actually instinctively tapped on the dead pixel gently, which caused the dark spot to fall down a little, excited I tapped on it (the new position) again and it fell even more, I continued until it touched the edge. Now its not visible anymore. Seems there is a physical particle stuck in there and not any circuit problem. I am a happy man now :smileytongue:
