My HP s3600f has integrated graphics and only one VGA port on backplate, and no other video ports.
According to hp specs s3600f supports expansion slots 1 PCI Express x16 graphics card & 1 PCI Express x1
In order to set up dual monitors is it just a matter of buying and inserting a new graphics card that has a vga, hdmi, or dvi port?
Would the present VGA backplate port still works after graphic card is installed, because hp specs advise "integrated video is not available if graphics card installed?" Would that render the current VGA port unusable?

Installing a discrete video card will automatically deactivate the onboard video port when the card is detected by the BIOS.
Many of the Slimline PC have low wattage power supplies and don't come with discrete video cards. Your PC only has a 160 watt power supply so installing a video card is not going to work. Some of the newer Slimline PCs have discrete video cards that are built to HP's specifications for PCs with small power supplies (220 watts).
