Hi,

The answer is no.  DVI doesn't support audio.

Do you have an issue?  What device are you trying to feed audio to?

Re: does hp pavilion p6630f support audio output through the dvi-d connector to dvi-d to hdmi adapte

I am trying to feed audio to a wide screen TV HDMI input from p6630f.

I am informed that the previous owner had been able to do this.

Also, I have found a reference (I do not have the URL right now, sorry) that stated that older DVI did not support Audio output, BUT newer DVI products might.

So my question here is really, does this particular DVI interface on this particular model fall into the set of more recent DVI devices that do, in fact support audio output?

Bear in mind that I have not personally seen the audio output operate as described to me.

The missing audio output was brought to my attention after re-imaging using on-board HP restore function.

Hi,

DVI does not support audio.  You have to use a separate audio cable with the DVI cable. There are DVI cables that do have an extra audio cable under the same sheath but they are usually not sold in most retail stores.

There are rumors on the net that ATI might have made a special cable where some unused DVI pins were used to route audio but that might also mean using an ATI video card. This would be a very strange setup and not one that I would recommend.
