hp pavilion p6520y power source

Hi there, quick question about upgrading my video card.

Diablo 3 comes out soon and I'd like to upgrade my video card prior to release of the game. Ive been looking at this card here, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-130-609&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&Pur...

and from the reviews its saying that there is no extra power source needed. But, according to the HP website, it states that my current computer/setup PSU's output is 250W, and the video card requires 300W. Do I need to get an upgraded PSU to run this video card, or any other video cards? I dont want to buy a PSU if not needed, but I'd also like to play D3 in at least "high" graphics mode. Any help or suggestion for video cards would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Mphillips5015, welcome to the forum.

Yes, you will have to upgrade the PSU to run this or any other newer mid-level video card.  If you upgrade to at least 500W, you can even buy a better card.  I like Corsair and OCZ PSU's.  They are manufactured with the gamer in mind.  They provide clean, stable power for your system.  The PSU is the backbone of the computer.  Therefore, it is not the place to save money.

Thanks so much for the quick response. Looks like I'll be shopping for PSU's and how-tos on the best ways to install them. Thanks again!

Re: hp pavilion p6520y power source

Mike, it is my pleasure.  Just watch closely where the leads from the PSU are connected and you will do fine.

Good luck!
