same thing happened to me this morning. I have the HP 2010i. I tried changing the color of the screen by pressing the 'men' button on the monotors frame and went into 'colors...' but that didn't help. regardless you should check if your colors are set to different RBG codes.
After i did that i noticed that the CPU cable on the tower/hardrive was loose. I moved it around alittle, and it caused the color of my screen to go from pink to normal and kept flashing, i just pressed the cpub cable back into the tower and it turned back to normal.
hopefully this solves your problem!
if it's not the cpu cable connected to the tower, try the one on the one located behind your monitor.

Check the video cable, that is not fixed properly at one side - pc or monitor, check both sides!
It could be a broken wire inside the cable too, but only for (very) old cable. You could test it when you twist the cable.

Inside the pc? With power on?
Not a good idea! Nor a good hint.
