pavilion a1710n with vista 32 bit wont find new video card in pci express slot GeForce GT520

I ran HP hardware diagnostics and got an error code MB 152-15W for the PCI E slot

What is the brand of your GeForce GT520 video card? (It would help to know that)

If your card requires a six-pin power connector from the PSU that is probably the issue.

Have you tried a different PCI-e x16 card to test the slot?

(A low powered one with 512 MB DDR or less and passive cooling.)

The card is a XFX with no external power connector

Yes I tried an ASUS card and it did same thing

Is the ASUS card also an NVIDIA GeForce card?

The reason that I ask is that some motherboards will not work with GeForce but will work with ATI/AMD Radeon HD series cards.

Does this error also occur when no card is in the pci slot?
Have you checked the slot for bended contacts?

Yes the error still occurs with nothing in PCI express slot and as far as I can tell all the contacts are good. It started out by loosing all the red on the onboard graphics. I have tried the monitor on another PC and its fine. I also just reinstalled vista and got the same thing. Haven't been able to find anything on the error code  {MB 152-15W}

Maybe a design failure ...

Have you checked/changed the cable?
(maybe the wire for red is broken or the connector has no contact at this pin)

Yeah it sounds just like my problem except my onboard isn't working very well.  So if I understood that correctly the only real option in my case would be to get a different mother board? Thats going to hurt, I just bought 4 gigs of ram, 200watt logitech 2.1 speakers and the FXF GeForce card. Any suggestions as far as motherboard or do i need to start from scratch and waste alot of new parts?
