pavillion slimline s3000e won't wake system peripherals after sleep

I suspect this is a common problem with machines running Vista, but I thought I put it out there to see if anyone had any suggestions...

the pavillion slimline 3000e I've got won't wake the system peripherals after coming out of sleep.  Apparently this machine is one of the ones with a bad motherboard, so I sent it in to be replaced.  And sent it in, and sent it in.  Yes, this thing has had 3 new motherboards (and 2 new video cards) in 7 months.  Just got it back and the problem persists.

All HP could suggest was to disable sleep mode, but I'd rather not have the thing running all the time (or have to shut down and reboot everytime I need it).  Plus, they couldn't explain why it did work for over a year and then developed this problem.

Has anyone else experienced this repeated problem? and is there anything a user could do besides never letting the machine sleep?

Re: pavillion slimline s3000e won't wake system peripherals after sleep

CC, had a similar problem with my s3220n.  Would startup slowly or freezeup when trying to return from sleep mode.  I discovered in my case it was the installation of Windows Vista SP2.  After I uninstalled SP2 from my system then sleep mode worked properly.  If you have SP2 installed on your system then I suggest uninstalling it to see if that will correct your problem. Good Luck!
