power supply etcc

i need to know if i can upgrade my graphics card and power supply safley with out my cpu going bad and if you guys can tell me what kind of power supply is compatible with my cpu mothrboard and processor the card im getting is a radeon 6950 so please help me figure out what i can get and is compatible

Hello donaldh, Here  is the link to AMD where you can see the specifications for the Radeo 6950.

 

It shows a power supply of 500 watts or higher should be installed.

 

Can you advise the model number of your system that you would like to upgarde?

HP Pavilion p6627c and is it going to be compatble with the power supply and graphivs card with out frying or damging any thing
