set up new pc with a graphic

Well, I'm new and I have a complicated question for anyone who has the time to address my problem.

I just bought a new hp computer from walmart without a monitor. I intend on using my HDTV as a monitor using HDMI to HDMI on a graphics card that I also bought. The question is what will I need to do and in what order to make all this work.

I know I need to do the following:

  • I have to Install the Graphics card to use the HDMI out
  • I need to install the drivers to use the graphics card(as far as I know
  • Do the initial pc set up when I first turn it on

Will the graphics card be automatically recognized, or will I need to set up a temporary means to see to configure the settings using a vga cable etc?

Also, is there anything special I need to do display to the screen or to get sound through the HDMI?

If anyone would be willing to give me a step by step solution to this problem, I would be thankful.

Here are the links to my respective pc and graphics card:

[ Edited ]

Hi and welcome to the forum..

The card link from tigerdirect is not working,,, But  Don't worry,,,  Here is the solution to ur problem...

First set up the computer using the VGA port, and install the video card software and driver on the PC.

Second install the video card on the computer. This link will guide you how to add video card on p6710f PC. The link is: Adding an Video card

Third we need to set PCIx16 as the Primary video adapter in BIOS.. And for that we need to perform below steps:

Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.

Turn on the computer.

When the first screen displays, do one of the following:

Immediately press the F10 key. Press the key once every second until a BIOS Setup utility screen opens.

Select Advances tab using left and right arrow key on the keyboard.

Then Select “ Primary Video Adapter ”  using up and down arrow key , and hit Enter.

It will open a small new window,   ON the new small video select PCIx16 and hit enter.

After it shows PCIx16 beside Primary Video Adapter in the list on Advances tab, PRESS F10 key to Save the settings and Exit BIOS.

Restart the computer and use the video card to connect the monitor.

If you DO NOT find any option let me know....

**AND FOR  Sound  you does not have to do any thing, it will using HDMI,, IF not then need some settings to be done From Control panel.
