I'm guessing that the motherboard in that machine isn't SLI ready. If it is a board with SLI capability, you could always run 2 good cards and use an SLI bridge to connect them. Or you could a;ways do that after upgrading your computer hardware.
If you're not sure what to look for when searching for a new video card, take notice of a few things:
1. I never buy a video card with a heat sink on it and no fan. This has been a recipe for disaster in the past for me, so I always buy a card with a built in fan.
2. Speed - A video card's speed at which it loads images and processes information is based off of the Core Clock speed. Anywhere between 500 - 1000MHZ is usually a fast card.
3. The memory of the card is not that important, unless your system requires certain specs to run certain things. 512 MB is pretty easy to find on a good card. You can even get as much as 1 GB these days; however, it seems that the memory and the Core Clock are hard to get to agree. When I was looking for cards yesterday, the faster cards with the high core clock speed had only 512 MB memory and the 1 GB cards were on the lower end of the core clock, around the 500 MHz.
Check out www.newegg.com and browse some VGAs based on some of these suggestions.
