w1907 monitor issue

I am currently having the following problem with my monitor:

It is going to sleep upon turning it on then shows up with "no signal" under VGA which is what it is running off. Sometimes it will turn on and work, when it has functioned I have tried to update drivers etc. only to find that it shows up as "drivers unknown" and "access denied". Every time I try to update/reinstall suitable drivers from HP website, original software disc or automatically/manually from the PC it fails every time.

I am running the monitor with an a6120a Pavilion and Windows Vista Home Basic. I have also tried a new monitor cable to see if that was the issue with the signal but it had the same problem.

Would the issue be caused by the driver problem, or are they two unrelated issues?

Any help would be appreciated. : )

Sori

Re: w1907 monitor issue

I'm having a similar problem with my w1907 monitor.  When I turn it on the screen goes blank after only 2-3 seconds.  It is still indicating it has power.  I tried another monitor and it works just fine.  It just started this morning.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: w1907 monitor issue

Sori84,

Try running this utility.

  1. Intel Driver Update Utility  Intel Driver Update Utility

Temporarily turn off your antivirus and firewall while doing any driver updates.

Re: w1907 monitor issue

Sam63sam63,

If your monitor keeps going to sleep then the issue might be the lack of a video signal coming from the PC.  This might be due to a video driver issue, bios issue or faulty video chip or motherboard.

What model HP PC and operating system are you using?

Try this procedure:

Unplug the PC and open it up. Clean out all the dust. Carefully remove and replace all the cables going to the motherboard one at a time. Do the same for the memory dimms and the video and sound cards if you have any.  You might want to buy a can of compressed air to blow the dust out of the CPU heat sink.  Plug your PC back in and give it a go.

Re: w1907 monitor issue

dalestone77,

Sounds like I've got the same problem  you had.  I noticed last night before goign to bed that my monitor was flickering a little.  Now my monitor turns on for a few seconds and then appears to turn off.  The light on the top stays blue.  I discovered by accident when I was messing with the cables that if I shine my flashlight at the screen, I can still see (at the right angle and just barely) that my PC login information is on the screen.

I switched from the DVI to a VGA cable and it's doing the same thing. I just plugged in a laptop (different than the computer normally connected) and the monitor does the same thing.

I noticed you posted this 7 months ago.  Did you come up with any solutions or did you replace the monitor?

I am an HP employee.
