Re: w2448hc Resolution problems

You can try going through the monitor's on-screen menu and toggling items related to display:

Do a factory reset.

DDC

Custom Scaling

Re: w2448hc Resolution problems

I shall give this a go when i get home this evening  and i will let you know.

It would be a lot easier if i could show what exactly happens i guess, do you think it would be better to take a picture of the screen with the problem and post it on here? Would that help at all?

Re: w2448hc Resolution problems

Can any of the online experts shed any light on this problem?

When i run games that are of a lower resolution than my display (eg less than 1920x1200) the image pulses and the colour is all wrong, also there are feint black and coloured lines accross the screen the whole time?

This doenst happen when i run games in 1920x1200 but not all games support this resolution.

Any ideas experts???

We need confirmation of the steps you have tried. Did you turn off custom scaling? How are you connected? Does the problem go away when you change the resolution within the game - game, settings, display options?

Re: w2448hc Resolution problems

I have updated the displays driver and the video card drivers.

I have just tried to turn off custom scaling, but the option to change it was greyed out so i couldnt change this setting.

I connect to my display through a DVI cable.

On some games that support 1920x1200 then yes the problem does go away, it just seems to be directly related to resolution.

I hope this helps you better diagnose the problem?

Re: w2448hc Resolution problems

I think you are right. If you change the resolution and the colors get all messed up, then you should look at things related to video dispaly,... updating display drivers. Change settings back to default. Set monitor back to factory defaults. If it only haoppens in a few games, then it may be the way the game handles VESA mode. Older games use older VESA modes - even 320x240 with 8-bit color depth. These will simply look yucky on a nicer monitor. A CRT display will make these look a lot better because of the width of the line and the way the phosphor glows to blend the pixels together. If you can change the resolution in Windows and the Windows desktop scales correctly and has the correct colors, then there is nothing wrong with the PC or the monitor.

Re: w2448hc Resolution problems

ZOMG! I have spent the last 3 hours trying everything i can think of and i have fixed it!!

For any one who has the same problem, you need to go into Nvidia control centre and select Nvidia Scaling and disable 'Let display decide scaling'

Thank you everyone for your help!!

Re: w2448hc Resolution problems

mloader14,

Thank you so very much for thinking about the community and posting your fix. I will remember to pass it along if I ever see the symptom.... I knew it had something to do with scaling :smileywink:
