I'm currently trying to figure out what happened to my friends PC. It worked fine one day, he shut it down, and then when trying to start it the next day, it gave 1 very long constant beep which lasted 17 seconds, 10 seconds off and then another 17 second beep. It keeps repeating this pattern.
I removed the memory and upon startup, it gives 1 short 1-second beep and then a longer 4-second beep, then a pause, and then repeats this pattern.
I've tried different memory and no luck. I tried putting in 2 different 775 socket processors, but then the system fires up full speed and doesn't post, but doesn't beep at all either. I'm assuming a P4HT or Celeron D isn't compatible with the motherboard, but I figured I'd try it anyway.
The system has an E2220 Dual Core processor and 4gb (2x2gb) PC2-6400 memory. It also has the Phoenix bios chip.
I've looked through the posts here trying to find answers, but nothing seems to be what this PC is doing. Does anyone here have any ideas? I don't want to go buying all new parts and find out it was something minor, etc...

Nevermind... I got sick of fighting with it and ordered a similar Foxconn Micro ATX motherboard to put in it

I tried different sticks of memory and all different speeds and same results. I think the memory controller is toast.
The closest motherboard I found was this one:
Don't get the G41M-S model as it only has 1 USB connector on it.
The downside is that the new motherboard has no FireWire connector on the board, so the front FireWire will be useless, but I didn't care as I didn't use it anyway. The FireWire connector is the Red Plug from the front of the A6500F tower. Just tuck that cable away since it won't be used.
The other 2 issues:
The P4 connector, which is the motherboard power connector from the power supply was a little too short, so I had to buy an extension. Then I also needed a USB extension because there are 2 USB connectors on the original board that are close together, but on the new board, the 2nd USB connector was further away and one or the other would reach the 2nd USB connector.
You'll also have to remove the Heatsink bracket from the back of the old motherboard to use on the new one. If you pry it off carefully and slowly, the adhesive tape used to hold it on will come off in one piece and can be used to hold it to the new motherboard long enough to get the heatsink attached. If this doesn't work, Menards sells 3M double sided tape that works fine.
The good thing is since the original motherboard was made by Foxconn as well, the main connectors for the Power Button, HDD Lights and LED are exactly the same as on this new motherboard and you won't need to do any creative re-pinning of the connector.

Did you try just one memory dimm at a time? Try one dimm in the black slot closest to the processor and then try moving it to the blue slot. On some PCs the blue slots have to be populated and some the black slots.
The mobo you posted is different than the mobo listed for the a6500f.

I know it's different. Finding an exact replacement was quite expensive and the one I bought, which is close, was only $52.
And yes, I did try only one memory stick at a time in either slot as well as other sticks and still the same result. I know the originals work just fine because I ended up putting them into my parents PC which I had just upgraded to Windows 7 64bit and they work just fine with all 4gb showing up in Bios and Windows.
That brings me back to the memory controller on the original motherboard being bad.

Hi, I was wondering if the new motherboard worked?
I am working on the same issue. Was your friend's computer the Pavilion a6500f, and was the original motherboard the Foxconn N15235? If so, what was the exact motherboard your used to get the computer going?

Yes... The Foxconn G41M worked perfectly, although it didn't have a FireWire connection on the board, so the Firewire on the front of the PC won't work, but I never used it anyway. You will need the 2 extention cables I mentioned though
